Wow, we missed a lot this week.We spent the weekend out of town, and therefore never caught up to ourselves, so a lot of what we planned for week nine didn’t happen. Other things happened instead, happy accidents, but not the plan – but that’s part of the joy of a CSA, is the adapting and experimenting.
Last week’s basket contained beets, lettuce, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, zucchini, summer squash, a hot pepper, green peppers, purple basil, garlic, and a cantaloupe.
- Pasta with Uncooked Tomato Sauce
- Seven Vegetable Couscous
- Chicken and Veggie Kebabs
- Tomato Sandwiches on Zucchini Yeast Rolls (from last weekend)
- Grilled Tilapia Tacos with Fresh Tomato and Avocado Salsa, Steamed New Potatoes
So instead of those last three things, we adapted. The beets are still in the fridge, the cantaloupe became breakfast smoothies along with some peaches from our front yard and some yogurt and honey, the cherry tomatoes joined the tomatoes from the following week and are waiting to be grilled, the zucchini yeast rolls became a tasty and filling breakfast for me most of the week, and we ended up making a big big batch of marinara to can with the extra tomatoes from week nine and the tomatoes we got in week ten.
